Press report.
150,000 visitors - and there´s still a day to go!

(report from: 08/26/2006)

GC welcomed a vast throng of visitors as it went into its third day. In fact it was only about 10am when the 100,000th visitor passed through the turnstiles! Some 75,000 people visited the Leipzig Fair’s exhibition centre today (compared to 54,000 on the Saturday in 2005) - which means that since Wednesday GC has been attended by a total of 150,000 fans from all over Europe. In other words, last year’s record number of visitors (134,000) has already been broken - and there’s still one day to go before the exhibition finally closes!

“The number of visitors today is easily the highest ever since the Leipzig Fair’s exhibition centre was opened ten years ago. The mood among exhibitors and visitors alike is absolutely euphoric,” declared Josef Rahmen, CEO of the Leipzig Fair. “We anticipated huge crowds today and planned our resources accordingly, but we really didn’t expect this many to come. Next year we’ll work together with our exhibitors and partners on expanding the logistics to ensure we can cope with these extreme peaks.”
