CosmeticBusiness Inspires with New Products and Trends

From 14 to 15 June 2023, the latest developments in cosmetics manufacturing and packaging will once again be presented to the industry at CosmeticBusiness in Munich. Packaging will be particularly in focus at this year's event. Half of the around 350 exhibitors and represented companies are specialists in cosmetics packaging and are continually investing their innovative talents in developing sustainable solutions. The resulting wide range of environmentally friendly and recyclable product designs is also reflected in the conference programme.

At CosmeticBusiness, the international trade show for cosmetics manufacturing and packaging, visitors can find out more about all possible types of cosmetics packaging. The spectrum ranges from innovative packaging materials and containers such as bottles, jars, and tubes to caps, applicators and dispensers as well as folding boxes, labels and displays. The new products showcased at the trade show and presented at the conference programme provide decision-makers from the cosmetics industry with a wide variety of inspiration for efficient, sustainable and recyclable packaging designs.

International variety is guaranteed by exhibitors from more than 25 countries. Exhibitors from Germany are joined by companies travelling to Munich mainly from Italy, France, China, Poland, Switzerland and the Netherlands. This makes the international trade show the perfect place to expand supply networks and learn about the latest international developments.

Sustainability as a Key to Success

According to a recent study by consulting agency Simon-Kucher, the sustainability trend in cosmetics and personal care is expected to continue despite current inflation concerns. According to the agency analysis, brand loyalty is considerably higher for beauty products than for other daily necessities. The most important sustainability concern for their respondents was still packaging, the agency reported.

In light of the constant developments in legislation on circular economies, it is clear that sustainability demands on packaging will also continue to increase. From material savings to recyclability and multi-use concepts, sustainable solutions are a recurring theme at this year's CosmeticBusiness.

Packaging specialist Linhardt, for example, will demonstrate that less is more with its Top Tube. The new tube construction makes it 70 per cent lighter than the original. To achieve this, the manufacturer has integrated a specially fitted tube shoulder into the cap, thereby allowing the use of a thinner tube body.

Heinz-Glas specialises in glass bottles and is investing in refillables instead of disposables with its All4One solution. The All4One concept allows four interchangeable glass inserts to be used in one glass jar, depending on the user's wishes and the product application. The jars can be filled with various things such as perfume, makeup, lotion or room fragrances.

Lifocolor is presenting masterbatches that make a circular economy possible for plastic packaging. Thanks to their thermostability and migration resistance, they can survive numerous recycling loops without any loss of quality.

Conference Programme Focuses on Trends, New Products and Practical Examples

At the accompanying conference programme, top speakers will discuss current industry topics such as colour and material trends and provide examples of how to achieve circular economy targets. On the first day, trend analyst and colour expert Niels Holger Wien will be talking about drawing on the current zeitgeist and offering insights into the world of colours for the 2024/2025 season. These will serve as inspiration for creative packaging designs in the coming years.

Visitors will learn more about real circular economies for cosmetics packaging in the presentation by Primavera, which also takes place on the first day. The aromatherapy and natural cosmetics supplier is working together with various partners to actively advance the recycling of cosmetics packaging using methods comparable to the beverage industry's deposit system. Andrea Dahm, who is responsible for sustainability and brand management at Primavera, will share her experience and knowledge about the deposit system for bathroom plastics.

Nathalia Trunova, Cosmetics & Personal Care Strategist for Quantis, will speak on the most important factors for success in ecodesign, the basis for recyclable cosmetics packaging. In her presentation, she will demonstrate how ecodesign can be used as a powerful planning tool.
