CosmeticBusiness 2022: Turn Trends into Business

The countdown to the 17th edition of CosmeticBusiness has begun. After a break in 2020 and an autumn show in 2021, the cosmetics industry will be getting together with its suppliers in early summer as usual from 1 to 2 June 2022 at the MOC in Munich. Decision-makers from the cosmetics industry will be looking for new inspiration for their product development from 300 exhibitors of ingredients, manufacturing and packaging. This is reflected in the motto of the international trade show of the cosmetics supplying industry which is "Turn Trends into Business".

"Our motto accurately describes the main strength of CosmeticBusiness", says Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. "This trade show covers the entire international value chain. There will be more than 300 exhibitors from 26 countries with France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Spain and Switzerland most strongly represented. Approximately 30 per cent of suppliers will be travelling to Munich from abroad. And every tenth company will be exhibiting at the show for the first time. So for anyone who wants to know which trends are currently defining the formulation, manufacturing and packaging of cosmetics products, a visit to CosmeticBusiness is a must", Geisenberger adds.

Focus on Innovation

The exhibition in three halls at the MOC will once again be enhanced with proven additional elements. The online exhibitor directory enables guests to make a targeted plan in advance that focuses on their main interests. Three thematic routes will help to guide visitors through the comprehensive trade show. In 2022, these will be the Premium Route leading to exclusive ingredients, formulations and complex packaging solutions as well as the Green Route to suppliers with sustainable products.

The third tour of the show is the Innovation Route. Here, visitors can meet the companies exhibiting their innovative product developments at the SPOTLIGHT special show. The special show itself can be found at the Innovation Corner in Hall 4. And this year it has a new format.

New Format for Start-Ups

For the first time, young companies will be presenting themselves and their ideas at a series of events called "Meet the Start-Up" in the Innovation Corner. As the innovational hub of the cosmetics industry, CosmeticBusiness is explicitly offering newcomers a platform where they can present themselves to a professional international audience and establish business contacts. "Such trade show events are extremely valuable for newcomers to the industry", says Julian Reitze. He will be presenting his start-up Rezemo and its new brand Forewood in Munich. Rezemo offers products based on wood fibres as an alternative to the usual plastics. The company was able to convince Kneipp to join them in an initial partnership to develop cosmetics packaging made from wood fibres. "We aim to bring the most sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging onto the market", Reitze explains. "CosmeticBusiness offers us the opportunity to inspire as many companies as possible with our idea."

Conference Programme With a Focus on Sustainability

The conference programme at CosmeticBusiness 2022 also does justice to the motto "Turn Trends into Business". This time, lectures on trends and innovations in the cosmetics industry will focus on the subject of sustainability. High-profile speakers and exhibitors will be presenting natural, bio-based ingredients and active componetns as well as examining the challenges of developing sustainable packaging for cosmetics products. A highlight that always draws in the crowds will once again be the CB Impulse 2023 Beyond lecture by the trend analyst Niels Holger Wien. He will be looking at the future as inspired by the current Zeitgeist as well as trends in colours and materials.

Digital Tools Offer Added Value at the Show

The two days of the show are packed full of everything decision-makers need to know about current trends and solutions in the cosmetics industry. For this reason, several services are available to help trade visitors make a perfect plan for the show. Firstly, there is the digital exhibitor and product directory. Secondly, the official trade show app delivers all the required information on exhibitors and events at CosmeticBusiness in a compact format straight to your smartphone.

An additional and particularly valuable service is the "Matchmaking" tool. It provides each user with individual potential business contacts based on their interests and goals. The tool can be used to arrange meetings at the trade show. This enables trade visitors to quickly and easily establish suitable business contacts and engage in talks. Matchmaking is available in both desktop and mobile formats. Registration is possible at https://tradefair.cosmetic-business.com/en/visit/matchmaking/

Updated Hygiene Concepts

Now that the former Federal Infection Protection Act is no longer in force in Germany, it is not necessary to prove your COVID-19 status in order to access the exhibition site. Naturally, the trade show hygiene concept will still be in place and has been adapted to the current situation. It is no longer mandatory to wear a medical mask but this is nevertheless recommended in areas where social distancing is not possible. Furthermore, there will be numerous hand disinfection points across the exhibition site.
